FMNP Teacher Scholarship

The Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) Teacher Scholarship is available to certified Florida teachers who are currently employed by a public or private K-12 school. Scholarships awarded will cover the attendee fee of one course.

Scholarships are awarded semi-annually based on region, applicant statement of interest in FMNP, and letter of recommendation. The number of scholarships awarded each year will be dependent on funding.

Who can apply:

Certified Florida teachers currently employed in a public or private K-12 school. (Previous recipients must wait at least 1 year from receipt of scholarship to apply for a 2nd scholarship).

How to apply:

Submit the following items by the application deadline to be considered:

    1) a completed application form
    2) a current copy of their teacher certification
    3) a letter of recommendation from the principal of the school where you are employed

Application Deadlines:

There are 2 award cycles; all application materials must be submitted by the deadline to be considered:

January 15: Complete applications received from July 16 - January 15 will be notified by February 1. Scholarships will be valid for course registration from March through August.

July 15: Complete applications received from January 16 - July 15 will be notified by August 1. Scholarships will be valid for course registration from September through February.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email by the FMNP Statewide Coordinator.

Award Expectations

Awardees must register for the course of their choice within the 6-month scholarship window. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Awardees are expected to submit a 200+ word story of their FMNP experience (what they learned and how they anticipate using the information in their K-12 classroom) to the FMNP Statewide Coordinator within 30 days of completion of their course.

Awardees are strongly encouraged to focus their course project on tools, materials, or applications that are relevant to K-12 education.
